Musical is a special kind of artistic form, which combines many different artistic forms, such as music, dance and drama, into one. Its unique characteristic of "conformity" enables it to become a new school of art on the stage. Musical is bountiful because of its variety. This article selects classic English musicals"CATS"and"The Phantom of the Opera"and also the Chinese original musical"XueLang Lake"and compares their respective characteristics of the singing performance of the three famous musicals.The article begins with a brief introduction to the three musicals. It then divides their singing performance into two parts: namely, the singing style and performance characteristics, and compares and summaries their differences and similarities.Finally ,the article induces the causes of these differences and similarities in the singing performance of the three musicals. Then summarizes the disadvantage of"XueLang Lake".It reveals the weak points of the Chinese musical from the aspect of singing performance and also points out the ways to correct them.
