| Hu Tingjiang is an outstanding young composer in contemporary China,whose compositions cover a wide range of fields.Because of his bold composition methods,he has incorporated elements of pop music into Chinese folk songs,making them not only have strong national characteristics but also a distinct sense of the times and thereby more fashionable.This made Hu Tingjiang deeply loved by a broad audience.Many musicians also want Hu Tingjiang to write songs for them.His composition,Xuan Jing(“Dazzling Scenery”),is a lyricless vocal work with florid ornamentation in the style of Chinese opera singing for a coloratura singer.Hu Tingjiang experimented boldly in this composition.He treated the human voice as an instrument.This method of composing for an "instrumental voice" is still relatively rare in China.As soon as Xuan Jing came out,it was loved by a broad audience.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first chapter focuses on the reason for selecting the above topic,its significance and current research on this topic within China and abroad.The second chapter introduces the compositional background of the song,Xuan Jing,and its composer’s creative achievements.The third chapter mainly analyzes the musical features of the song using notated examples to understand the differences between this work and other works with florid tunes.The fourth chapter compares and analyzes the treatment of Xuan Jing in performance using two sung versions by two different singers.The fifth chapter analyzes the singing of Xuan Jing by combining the author’s own practice with theory.The last part which is the conclusion sort out the whole article and sum ups the viewpoints and contents described above.Through this study,it is hoped that we can have a deeper understanding of Hu Tingjiang’s compositions and creative ideas.It is also hoped that it can be of some help to the singing by coloratura sopranos,and that it can also inspire the composition of ethnic Chinese vocal music. |
