The artistic school of play is a common phenomenon in the development of art of play and also the inevitable product of that. The forming of artistic school of play which is symboled by performer's personal singing style, marked not only the performer's artistic attainments have achieved the summit of her times but also the maturity of her own artistic style. Nothing is more typical than the art of vocal music in a Chinese opera that can represents the characteristics of school's artistic style.This paper focuses on the art of vocal music in a Chinese opera of Cui Lantian, who is the founder of"Cui school"in Henan opera. Apart from the introduction and the conclusion, the whole paper can be divided into three parts.The first part concludes the completed style of the characteristics of Cui Lantian's vocal muisic,and it also focuses on the causes that influence the forming of Cui Lantian's singing style from three aspects, they are Cui Lantian's special favorite over tragedy,accept the merits of the tune of the west of Henan and her outstanding vocal conditions.The second part analyzes the characteristics of Cui Lantian's vocal muisic and the artistic effects from the aspects of"emotional expressing","pronouncing and articulating","the art of spoken parts"and so on.The third part simply introduces the present situation of the art of Cui Lantian's vocal music (it's pleasing as well as worrying with more worries), expresses attitudes, raise questions and speak out thoughts.
