Considering contemporary watercolor painting is blooming and varied, I tentatively, from my personal view angle and by practicing painting together with referring to some masters'works, carried out a study on the indigenous flavor trend of watercolor painting and analyzed the current situation of Chinese Watercolor Painting --- Chinese Watercolor Painting is blooming with unprecedented vigor because of the similarity between the painting materials used in Chinese Watercolor Painting and Traditional Chinese Painting and the natural affinity to Chinese people. Various schools and styles of watercolor painting have gained their fruits and reputations worldwide. In the process of my studying, I found Chinese Watercolor Painting had been characterized by oriental aesthetic core and individuality which in the meantime are also the indispensable conditions for its significant development. Therefore, I conclude that Chinese Watercolor Painting will gain its important status and radiate its vitality if oriental aesthetic core and individuality are combined in the painting. Of course, we should emphasize that"oriental"is not a geological concept but a cultural connotation. The principle that arts are rooted in life is so plain that it has almost been forgotten, but it is still worth bringing it up again for those who are working behind closed doors or practicing cutting and pasting. Arts are supposed to come from the Realistic Life in which we are ever breathing instead of cutting some segments from Old Stories. It is also worthwhile to introspect for those seeking quick success and instant benefits.
