Northern Song Dynasty's Bianliang (today`s Kaifeng in Henan Province), Southern Song Dynasty's Linan (today`s Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province) and other cities` trade prospers, where not only gathers the aristocrat,but also the massive merchants, the handicraftsman and the residential social stratum, so the civic culture life is unprecedentedly active, the drawing demand grows obviously, the customers of drawing service also expands all of which has provided the material conditions and the mass base for the development and the prosperity of drawing. The Song Dynasty drawing enters the handicraft and commercial market, and establishes a closer relation with more populace. One group of highly skilled professional painters, sells their woks in the market, Bianjing and Linan all have the paper picture profession.
