The main study content of this paper is the period division and chronology of archeology culture of the Tumen river basin and some related questions. The basin of Tumen river is an important part of the study of archeology in Northeast region of Asia, the sites are dispersedly because of the natural environment and the typical stratigraphy relation or standard of typology are lacked. But after the report of the Xingcheng site publicshment ,the material is more abundant in these years, there is a imperatively requirement for building the alignment of archeology culture of the Tumen river basin.The paper consists of four parts.The first part is about the natural environment of the Tumen river basin to defines the space-time category of this paper study and expound the importance of this area in the study of archeology in Northeast region of China and Asia. The paper is also includes the entire circumstance of previous studies , the main study content of this paper , the study train of thinking , and the harvest and breakthrough to be obtained expectantly.The second part is about three archeology cultures of Neolithic .In the paper , writer was arranged the material of Neolithic detailedly , divided into four periods of Neolithic based on the relationship of stratigraphy in typical sits , and defined three different archeology cultures of this area . The cultures are Xi Puxiang Type ,â… stage of Xingcheng culture, and Jingu culture , and put forward for the first time of Xi Puxiang Type . It is also summed up the characterstics of the three cultures , and definited the culture attribute of other sites in this area , and discussed the time of them.
