One of the serious problems in oral English teaching in high-tech professional colleges in China is the poor English-speaking performance among the majority of students. The enhancement of the students' English-speaking ability is still a weak point in English teaching in these colleges. The result is that the students can hardly express their ideas in English even after several years of English study in the colleges. This phenomenon reveals, at least to a certain degree, that the current English teaching method hasn't met the demand of the ultimate goal of high-tech professional college education. Hence, the author of the paper has carried out an investigation among all the English teachers and some students in the Agricultural and Engineering High-tech Professional College in Jiangxi province, aiming to explore the problems and problem-resolving strategies.The whole paper consists of four chapters:Chapter One briefly states the development of high-tech professional colleges and introduces the current situation of English-speaking teaching in high-tech professional colleges in China.In chapter two the author does an investigation among all the English teachers and...
