Effective English learning is a process of positive thinking.Mathematical learning ability includes the ability of summarizing,analyzing,deducing,reasoning and judging.Studying the relationship between high school students' Mathematical learning ability and English learning ability,reflects the concept of cultivating students'thinking and abilities through English learning.It also provides a new way for senior high school English teaching.That is,teachers penetrate mathematical thinking in English teaching and infiltrate the mathematical consciousness of induction,judgment and reasoning into English learning process to promote students'ability of English language and logical thinking two-way development.It also reflects the concept of interdisciplinarity.The research subjects of this study are those students from a senior high school in Fujian province.This research mainly studies the relationship between high school students' Mathematical learning ability and their English learning ability,and specifically focuses on the following questions:1.Is high school student's Mathematical learning ability correlated with their English learning ability?2.Are high school students'English logical thinking ability,meta-ability and communication ability correlated with their Mathematical learning ability?3.Can high school students' Mathematical learning ability predict their English learning ability?This study collected 248 fresh students'math scores and English scores in senior high school in the midterm examination and designed a questionnaire.The data collected in the SPSS 13.0 system were analyzed by the corresponding statistical analysis.It can be found that:1)there is a positive correlation between high school students' Mathematical learning ability and English learning ability;there is a stronger positive correlation between the logical reasoning ability in English and the Mathematical learning ability;2)there is a positive correlation between high school students'English meta ability and Mathematical Meta ability,English communication ability and mathematical communication ability;3)students' Mathematical learning ability can predict their English logical thinking ability.These results confirmed Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory.Individuals can possess multiple abilities,and this ability can also be interdisciplinary.On the other hand,it will encourage most parents and students.Students should not negate one-sidedly.Parents should not even think that liberal arts students'English is better than that of science students',science students'math is better than that of liberal arts students'.It will also encourage teachers to take a comprehensive view on students',learning,to encourage students to learn from each other.In short,the findings of this study will have a positive effect on the perspectives of teachers,students,and learning.
