In the world market, and the background of the rapid development of economicglobalization process, English, as the world’s most versatile language, continuesto improve in the national education. The status of vocational English, as animportant way of communication in the social life and countries, is also growing.In the largest "factory of the world"-China, the importance of vocational foreignlanguage,including vocational English in student’s employment, the role of thesocial life and national development, gets more and more attention and supportfrom the state and society. However, from a process, China’s vocational educationis just entering the fast lane. The overall education management system, teachingmechanism, the education level of teaching and the effect are unsatisfactory. Toa considerable extent, Chinese vocational education cannot meet the needs ofnational development. The education of vocational foreign language teaching,including the education of vocational English teaching, as an important part ofvocational education teaching, is inadequate. There are many problems. One of theimportant issues is the target issue of vocational education. What is the mainobjective of the vocational English teaching? It is to teach students some basicknowledge of English? Or is to promote students practical English ability in job?Or is to equip students with basic English autonomous learning ability, for theycan improve their practical English ability fast and efficient by their correctautonomous learning? Or the above three aspects are needed? These problems havenot been considered by the number of professional educators correctly, which hasseriously hampered the improvement of the standard of teaching vocational Englisheducation. From the author’s opinion, we should focus on the three aspects. Themain idea of this paper is to focus on both the second one and the third one.Particularly, the key is to explore vocational colleges in training students tomaster the necessary English practical skills, at the same time, the necessityof training students’ English practical skills of autonomous learning, cultivating conditions and ways of implementation. I believe that exploring these issues isvery important to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of Chinese vocationalEnglish teaching.Depending on the needs of the above arguments, I design theoretical studyresearch that is a five parts thesis writing mode, which constitutes relevanttheory study, relevant social survey, data analysis, summarized theory andsummarized conclusions. It must be pointed out that this thesis is not only tocomplete the graduation thesis, but also to deepen valuable knowledge and skillsteachers have worked over the years to educate me.This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainly introducesreasons and the significance of basic problems of selected topic, literature review,research methods and concept definition. The second chapter mainly introduces theconnotation of professional English autonomous learning ability. The third chaptermainly introduces the project content and results of the survey. The fourth chaptermainly puts forward vocational English practical skills of higher vocationalstudents and the conditions and strategies of cultivating the ability of autonomouslearning. The fifth chapter is the conclusion of this article overview.
