Ability-based emotional intelligence in which researchers view emotional intelligence as a new intelligence is paid attention. A lot of foreign researchers have studied the relationship between emotional intelligence and various life certeia using Mayer-Solavey-Caurso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT). According to interrelated foreign articles, above all, the present study examine whether MSCEIT can be used without being revised in China. On this base, we study the predictive effect on ability-based emotional intelligence and life satisfaction of college students. The results of the study show that:(1)Through examined reliability and structural validity, MSCEIT can be used in China. And being consistent with the results of most foreign researchs, female students performed significantly better than male students on all four scales of the MSCEIT.(2) The correlation analyse between ability-based emotional intelligence and life satisfaction of college students show that total MSCEIT scores are modestly correlated with life satisfaction (r=0.43,p<0.001); it are low correlated with self-satisfaction, habitation satisfaction, learning satisfaction, freedom satisfaction and school satisfaction (r>0.30); it are feeble correlated with satisfaction of friendliness, family and circumstance. Two areas scores that are experiencing emotional intelligence and strategic emotional intelligence, are significantly correlated with various life satisfaction. Four branchs scores are significantly correlated with most life satisfaction(r=0.36-0.08).(3) There are the regression analyse between ability-based emotional intelligence and life satisfaction of college students. Respectively using none life satisfaction as the dependent variables, the final models all included total MSCEIT scores. It is proved that Ability-basedemotional intelligence has predictive effect on life satisfaction. The second branch------facilitating thought has predictive effect on self-satisfaction and freedom satisfaction. The forth branch ------managing emotions has predictive effect on entrionment satisfaction.
