As junior high school students are the future of our country,it is our hope to improve the life satisfaction of them to make them grow up more healthily and happily.Studies have found that individuals with grateful disposition hold higher life satisfaction.However,there is little discussion about the internal mechanism for the impact of grateful disposition on life satisfaction.There were three aims of this study.First,it attempted to explore the basic state of grateful disposition,emotional intelligence,family cohesion and life satisfaction among junior high school students.Second,it studied the differences of four aspects in gender,grade,only child or not,class cadres or not and caregivers.Finally,it verified the relationship between grateful disposition and life satisfaction to further explore whether emotional intelligence and family cohesion were the internal mechanisms for grateful disposition and life satisfaction.In this study,756 junior high school students in Jiangxia District of Wuhan province were selected to complete corresponding questionnaires.We analyzed the data using ANOVA,LSD post test,correlation analysis,common method deviation test,bootstrap test,structural equation model and so on using by spss22.0 and Amos 21.0.The results were as follows:1.In terms of grateful disposition,the results showed that the degree of grateful disposition among female students was significantly higher than that of male students;the degree of grateful disposition among students as class cadres was higher than that of other students;the degree of grateful disposition among seventh and ninth grade students was significantly lower than that of eighth grade students;the degree of grateful disposition was significantly higher among junior high school students living with their parents than that of the students living with their grandparents.However,there was no significant difference between the only child and non-only child.2.As for life satisfaction,total score for life satisfaction of junior high school students as class cadres was significantly higher than that of other students,but there was no significant among gender,grade,only child or not and caregivers in the total score of life satisfaction.3.In the aspect of emotional intelligence,girls scored significantly higher than boys in the total score of emotional intelligence,the ability to understand and infer the emotions of others,the ability to understand and infer one’s own emotions,and the ability to express emotion.Class cadres were higher than students who were not class cadres in the total score of emotional intelligence and in each dimension.There was no significant difference in emotional intelligence scores in terms of being an only child or not,grade and living with different dependents.4.In terms of family cohesion,junior high school students who lived with their parents had significantly higher family cohesion than that with grandparents or other people.But there was no significant difference in other demographic variables.5.There was a significant positive correlation between grateful disposition and life satisfaction of junior high school students.The grateful disposition of junior high school students had a significant positive correlation with emotional intelligence and family cohesion respectively.There was a significant positive correlation between family cohesion and emotional intelligence.Emotional intelligence and family cohesion were positively correlated with life satisfaction.6.Grateful disposition,emotional intelligence and family cohesion all had significant predictive effects on life satisfaction.7.Emotional intelligence and family cohesion played a multi-mediating role between grateful disposition and life satisfaction.Therefore,educators can cultivate the grateful disposition of junior high school students to improve their life satisfaction as welll as make them grow up healthily and happily.
