| This thesis is an empirical study of the relationship between learners' EFL beliefs and strategies, which focusing on non-English major postgraduate liberal arts students. A self-developed questionnaire based on Yang's (1992) English Learning Questionnaire, Horwitz's (1987) Belief About Language Learning Inventory (BALLI) and Oxford's (1990) Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL, version 7.0) has been distributed to each participants. A total of 129 postgraduate students in Southwest University (originally Southwest Normal University) have participated in this study and 96 are valid. Factor analyses are performed to identity factors underlying learners' belief and strategy, then nonparametric tests are used to compare male and female students' belief and strategy use, and Spearman correlations are conducted to examine the relationships between the belief and strategy factors.This study has three objectives.
