| Situation model, a multi-dimension mental model of the reading comprehension cognitive process, arouses psychologists' interest, and becomes a hot issue in the field of reading psychology. The construction of situation models has been affected by many factors, which mainly fall into two categories: the text itself and the readers. The text is mainly concerned with the writing style, content, structure, etc; while the readers mainly with their knowledge background, personality, mood, set, etc. The reading psychology focuses on the text in the research of situation models from multi-dimension. Meanwhile, there were researches from the perspective of the readers. Time has made a fundamental dimension in constructing situation models. A lot of researches concerned with time have been done only based on the text, while researches concerned with people were seldom reported. Combined with the text and the readers, and based on previous researches, this study discussed effect of narrative time shift and time management disposition on the construction of situation models. This research was made up of two experiments with university students as subjects. In this study, we comprehensively considered the influences both from the text which included sentence transition type and time duration words, and time management disposition. With the two experiments, we conclude the findings as follows:1) Sentence transition type may affect event segmentation and influences the construction of situation models;2) Temporal duration words may play as a time mark which serves as a clue to construct situation models;3) Time management disposition has affected the construction of situation models based on temporal clue;4) The sense of time value has no significant effect on the construction of situation models;5) The sense of time control and the sense of time efficacy both have significant effect on and theconstruction of situation models. |
