As a kind of unearthed document, inscription documents reflect social history, words and the use of words at that time authentically, and the research of inscription documents has taken a long time. In recent decades, with the socialization of archaeological methods and the state's attention to national cultures, a lot of inscription scripts have been excavated. The inscription of Wei, Jin and the Northern and Southern Dynasties take a great part in number, and they are authentic with concrete times, which make the valuable research data for us.The words in inscription reserve the situation of how people at those times used word authentically. According to the analysis of the changes of the components which make up word, it can reflect the developmental trace of Chinese characters, and it can provide the first-hand data for the research of Chinese characters' structure and developmental history. This would provide theoretical thoughts and practical proves for construction of complete Chinese philology. At the same time, the research will make convenience for us to explain some difficult words to understand the content of inscription accurately, and it will provide lots of experience for modern Chinese characters' instant simplify and standardization. Among them, a lot of popular forms of characters will make up for the insufficient collection of word in large-scale Chinese dictionary.This essay contains five chapters, on the basis of the whole situation of inscription words in the Wei, Jin, the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the author mainly analyzes different variation types of words components in that three dynasties from the angle of component variation, and at the same time, the author combines synchronic and diachronic methods together to discuss the regulations, reasons and reflection to the words of later ages through a great deal of examples, especially the closed collection and research of components' variation and substitution in chapter 3 and 4 in order to provide authentic and valuable date for the developmental history of Chinese characters and popular form of characters.
