Christopher Hill, the famous British Marxist historian, new social historiographic historian, makes the enormous contribution to the development of the world historiography. On the base of the Hill's English original work and the guidance of the theory of historical materialism , the thesis attempts to use a preliminary analysis on the Hill's historiographic thought.Under the background of the overall framework of social change ,the thesis wants to explore the academic origin of the Hill's historiographic thought. Pay close attention to Hill's historiographic thought, you also have to pay close attention to his concentrating on studies on special field in his 40 years - -English revolution of the 17th century. Because Hill's historiographic thought is all embodied by his achievement and his written works in this field. Moreover,the thesis is a revelation mainly about Hill's new thought of social history. To some extent, Hill and other British Marxist historians' view of total social history embodies the rich meaning of his historiographic thought and advanced production. Under the guidance of the perspective of "from bottom to up", Hill inaugurates a new research model of social history.Hill's research of history is the inheritance and innovation of the Marxist historiographic theory. Hill devotes himself to the research of the 17th century English Revolution, and gets the positive contribution to the development of the world historiography.
