With China's entry into WTO and with the frequent communications of politics, economy and culture with foreign countries, the need for more people who can speak English is ever increasing. But in Guizhou, College English teachers always meet with an embarrassed situation: some students, even some English majors, have already passed CET Band 4 and Band 6, but their oral English is still very poor. It seems that their oral English proficiency is always much lower than their ability of reading, listening and even writing. With the increasing need for proficient English speakers on the one hand, and with the comparatively less attention to develop speaking abilities on the other hand, both teachers and English majors have realized that much work has to be done to solve the problem. Therefore, it is very urgent and important for us college English teachers to help our students to improve their oral English levels to meet the need of the society.
