[Abstract] Solfeggio is the foundation of professional music education, and the ear training is an important part of Solfeggio, and contemporary music is an important teaching content which can not be neglected in Solfeggio. This paper is based on the study of a textbook named《EarTraining for Twentieth-Century Music》,written by Micheal L Friedmann, the professor of Yale University in United States. After translating, studying and comprehending this book, the author analyzes, concludes and expatiates the contents and the scientific training mode of Ear training for twentieth-Century Music in this paper, furthermore, the author graspes the general things of this textbook, such as the basic circumstance, whole essentials and music examples, exposes the main character, content and applification principle of the theory of Pitch-class set; illustrate the condition, gist, type and effect of dividing pitch class; elucidates the principle, requests and mode in teaching practice; and provides the meaningful reference for the Solfeggio subject construction.
