Pitch Control Procedures Based On Pitch-class Set Theory And Its Music Creation Application

Taking Max/MSP as the platform, the author has created an interactive composing programme based on the theory of pitch class set. The study gives the operator a privilege to define the harmony of each interval, provides a visual space for free transition between any sets in Allen Forte's Set-class tables by harmony.This programme use"round abacus","iterator search"and"complementary set", three kind of design concepts in getting prime forms; may follow operator's intention by any transpositions, retrogrades or inversions of pitch classes; offers 120 kinds of Indian Tala rhythm collected by Olivier Messiaen for choices; has the"strict control"and"free random"two output ways; and provides each kind of timbre, can be used in music creation.
