Self-esteem is individuals'global evaluation and emotional experience of the value and function of their own, which is obtained in the process of their development. It is a kind of attitude experience towards oneself. Attributional style refers to individual incline to reason that incident happened traditionally, with distinction characteristic. It is evaluated through individual judgments to a lot of reasons that incident happened. There is close relation between self-esteem and attributional style, however, the study conclusion are inconsistent.In this study, junior high school students are used to be research object. We investigate the relation between self-esteem and attributional style. On the basis of the investigation, the study conducts attribution training on junior high school students with low self-esteem. We attempt to explore the effect of attribution training on attributional style and the level of self-esteem and seek for an effective approach to enhance the level of self-esteem of junior high school students.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:1. Junior high school students with different level of self-esteem have different attributional style. The students with high self-esteem attribute academic success more to internal effort factor, less to simplicity of the work and good luck; and attribute academic failure more to effort factor. The students with low self-esteem attribute academic success more to simplicity of the work and good luck; and attribute academic failure more to low abilities. The attributional style of the students with low self-esteem is unreasonable and unscientific correspondingly.2. After the training, students with low self-esteem attribute academic failure more to effort factor and difficulty of the work, less to low abilities.
