| As the base of Chinese traditional culture, family culture has an important influence on the form of ethos and character of the country. CAO Yu, growing up during the transformation from old culture to new one, couldn't completely abandon family culture, due to his life experience and cultural background, thereafter showed a dim judgment, half abandoning, half attaching. This thesis tries to make an analysis of the cultural connotation contained in his drama characters, so as to grasp his contradictory and complicated feeling to family and family culture, with his five dramas as a reference.The first chapter gives a thorough analysis of the dilemma of CAO Yu when facing family culture. CAO Yu held a contradictory and complicated feeling to family culture. On one hand, he's willing to abandon the family for its ethic pressure and bond on human nature. On the other hand, he's also attached to the moral feelings of family culture.The second chapter explained how CAO Yu abandoned the family culture in a rational way, through. CAO Yu' creation in his former dramas of autarchy supporters, twisted resisters and cowardly victims .The third chapter gives an emphasis on CAO Yu' s conversion to family culture, by analyzing tradition-opposing and tradition-converting females in his works, as well as a close reading of the nature of a large number of complicated characters in his works. |
