The combined fusion of Chinese-western literature and art theories is a very important research issue in construction of contemporary literature and art theories. However, the Chinese-western literature theories have relative isolation growth environments, different perspectives on a research issue, and different standpoints. Consequently, the western literature theories and the Chinese literature theories both address only half of a theory-research issue. If we bridge them together based on their essence theories, composing a research issue of more complete and reasonable theory expression and making it more theoretically applicable and clear, then we can accomplish the tasks of merging the Chinese-western literature and art theories.On the source nature issue of literature and art, the western literary theories, especially the contemporary western literary theories, argue that literature and art is "manifestation of felt life". It was advanced by the American mark theory Aesthetician, Susan Langer and was based on the Clive Bell's theory of "meaningful form". In fact, regarding the source nature of literature and art, there were many theories layered in the history of the western literature theories. Until the 20th century, it became famous doctrine after Susan Langer advanced the theory of "manifestation of felt life". However, Susan Langer based her discussions of source nature of literature and art on the methodologies of real diagnosis principle; she based her understanding of "manifestation of felt life" on the visions of structure and form, disregarding the organic nature of literature and art and severing content from format. In other words, she studies the issue of "manifestation of felt life" only from the outmost and superficial features in the form of art and felt life while relatively disregarding the innermost and deep nature of life spirit in the literature.On this issue, the Chinese and western literature theories are complementary to each other.
