Qikun Xie (A. D. (1737-1802), a style Yunshan(蕴山), assumed name Suqin (苏潭), was a commoner who was born in NanKang County of Jiangxi Provice. He was born of a good-study home, and studied well from childhood. In 1760, he passed the imperial examinations at the provincial level, then he studied from the famous scholar Fanggan Weng, became his student. The next year, he went to the capital again and passed the successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations. From then on, he rapidly go up in the world, except the throwback of Dongtai poem case. In 1799, he was in charge of GuangXi.During whose tenure of office, he, from GuangXi' s real situation did a lot good to the people of GuangXi and promoted the economy of GuangXi. politics and society, by looking into civil affairs, making innovations of maladministration, and easing people' s burdens. He also showed great concern to culture and the General History of GuangXi modified and edited by him was regarded as the model of general history with an everlasting contribution to the development of the cultural Cause of GuangXi. In 1802, he died of post working in GuangXi charge.When having time, Xie liked to written poems or essays or other works. He had a work named SHUJING HOUSE COLLECTION.Being influenced by his teacher Fanggan Weng and famous Tongcheng Groop in Qing Dynasty , Xie's essays appeared modesty and elegance, always reflected his knowledge, had literature value.As a result, It' s necessary to make a systematic study his life, thoughts, works in order to let people today understand the culture of GuangXi in the Qing Dynasty.
