Chu Cultural Traits In Huangmei Opera

This dissertation enters on a general survey of Huangmei Opera that has been developing rapidly as a local Opera in China, aiming at an understanding of the unusual relationship between Huangmei Opera' s peculiar characteristics and its regional culture from a regional cultural angle. On the basis of the studies of Huangmei Opera' s essential features and its regional culture, Huangmei Opera' s artistic individualities and aesthetic traits are viewed in context of Chu Culture, by means of comparison and analysis, in expectation of confirming that Huangmei Opera is a curiosity within Chu Culture' s edification, that the maturity of her nice inside has much relationship with its regional cultural gestation , after an analysis on both essences.Firstly, the dissertation probes into Chu Cultural origin of Huangmei Opera in aspects of the regional geography, regional arts, regional customs etc; Then that Huangmei Opera belongs to Chu Culture is confirmed in two aspects, one is the homogeneity between Huangmei Opera' s artistic individualities and Chu Culture' s essences, the other is aesthetic traits of Chu Culture shining in Huangmei Opera; Finally, the dissertation gives a simple analysis on the relationship between modern Huangmei Opera' s characteristics with Chu Culture traits, and indicates that the regional culture is much important to Huangmei Opera, needing to be strengthened. The investigation of the cultural relationship between Huangmei Opera and Chu Culture is helpful to differentiate Huangmei Opera' s distinct characteristics from the kin of local Operas in China (e. g. it' s different from sonority of Yu Opera or Qin Opera in tune, also it' s different from too much elegance of Yue Opera in performance). A thorough understanding of its unique regional cultural flavor is also helpful to render a reference for Huangmei Opera' s development direction in the future.
