A Discussion On Huangmei Opera And The Culture Construction Of New Socialist Countryside Illustrated By The Example Of Huangmei Village, Anqing City

Huangmei Opera is one of non-tangible cultural heritage in China. After more than200years’ development, Huangmei Opera became one of the five China’s major operafrom a folk short drama, while its performing stage evolved from a temporary stagecovered with grass in countryside to a stage theatre in urban area. At present, HuangmeiOpera is a distinctive sample of excellent opera genre, an iconic cultural form and arepresentative cultural brand in Anhui Province. It is considered as "China’s countrymusic" at overseas. Currently, the culture construction of a new socialist countryside is animportant aspect in the strategy of culture construction at Anhui province, responding tothe great call of building a new socialist countryside in China. The goal of building a newsocialist countryside is featured as “advanced production, a well-to-do life, civilized socialatmosphere, a neat look and democratic management.” The inheritance and developmentof Huangmei opera could promote the formation of civilized social atmosphere andprovide a lasting inner dynamics for the harmonious development of rural economy andsociety.With the theme of culture construction of a new socialist countryside and promotionto form a harmonious rural society, this thesis was closely to explore the effects of theinheritance and development of Huangmei opera on the promotion of culture constructionat rural area to meet the ever-growing spiritual and cultural needs of villagers, based on ansurvey at Huangmei village which is the homeland of Yang Fengying, a great master ofHuangmei opera. The main contents include those as follows. First, Huangmei opera is arural excellent traditional culture with distinguishing regional cultural characteristic andone of non-tangible cultural heritage. Its inheritance and development at Huangmei villageof Anqing city, the homeland of China Huangmei Opera, was investigated. It has shownthat its dissemination have some new characteristics as people love to watch, primaryschool students like to learn and private Huangmei opera troupe prefer to perform.Huangmei opera has become the cultural brand of Huangmei village. Second, in theconstruction of new feature in Huangmei village, Huangmei opera has shown to be animportant cultural carrier to promote the spiritual civilization construction and thenadvance the economic and social development of Huangmei village. In process of the inheritance and development of Huangmei opera, the village organization should play aleading role, guide the opera troupe to highlight the subject of agriculture, rural areas andfarmers in the creation of opera scripts and serve the mass cultural activities to propagatethe advanced socialist culture. At last, Huangmei opera is the key cultural genre at thecultural strategy of “strengthening Hui brand and booming Huangmei opera” in Anhuiprovince.
