Li Deyu's Literary Creation And The Relation Of His Work With The Literary World

Li Deyu is a renowned statesman and famous literary expert with considerable work between the middle and late Tang Dynasty. The former scholars probed into his merits and demerits from the aspect of history and politics and got a fairer and fairer comment. In recent years, important achievements have been gained in biography textual, editions of the lost work and distinguishing of the false work. Yet, research on his literary text is still insufficient, especially no comprehensive and intensive discussing about the characteristics, artistic style and etc. This article try to study all kinds of Li Deyu's work including poetry, essays and rhythmic prose, analyze the essay creation characteristics and the leading style and diverse characteristics in poetry and rhythmic prose. On this basis, it touches upon the relationship between his literary creation and the then literary world.Li Deyu's political essays stem from actual need, which are of not only strong political practicality, bur quite high literary achievements. His historical and political essays reflect his profound thinking on politics and history and so on, which are terse, short but forceful. The poetry and rhythmic prose comprehensively and authentically mirror his rich and complex inner world, which primarily lead the style of elegance, standard and nature in artistic performance, and are of vigorously powerful, deep with cadence, relaxed and so on.Generally speaking, his style in literary creation approaches the prime and middle Tang Dynasty, but is different from the late Tang Dynasty. He learned from the new parallel prose from"Yan Xu"to"Lu Zhi"and HanYu's essay creation. He may be called an important article writer in middle and late Tang Dynasty. His poetry creation follows more the poetical trend in prime and middle Tang Dynasty, and different from the poetic world mainstream in late Tang Dynasty, but the overall achievements is not high.
