The Conflicts Between Protagoras And Socrates

The conflicts between Protagoras and Socrates is the most important conflict of the conflicts between the Sophists and Socrates. In Plato's Protagoras, what can we see is the conflct of knowledge and virture between Protagoras and Socrates. When we study all conflicts of them, we can see the nature and foundation of the conflict is the different understanding for knowledge. Lots of scholars have studied on this and now we already have lots of research books, but in china most scholars just focus their mind on the epistemology and the results from the epistemology, there are few special studies on the foundation of the epistemology. On this paper I will prove the conflicts between Protagoras and Socrates are based on the foundation of the different understanding for knowledge ; and discuss Protagoras' and Socrates's Respective knowledge; Meanwhile take this as the foundation, carries on the appraisal to this conflict.Besides the preface, there are there parts in this paper. The first part mainly interprets the background of the conflicts and promulgates the objectivity and inevitability which Protagoras and Socrates conflicts. The second part Second obtains from the conflict main content and the performance, pointed out this conflict is radically lies in both sides to the knowledge different understanding, at the same time further the bilateral knowledge foundation carries on the discussion; The third rules in the first two parts of foundations, to this the significance profound conflict carry on the brief appraisal in the philosophy history, and to the philosophy nature, the effect and the duty.
