Computer has been favored in education field since the 1990s. When innovation in education is mentioned, it must be related to the application of computer in different subjects teaching. As an important teaching media, computer plays an important role in improving the educational quality, cultivating creative talents and promoting the efficiency in teaching and learning as well. Therefore, it is certainly to be an inevitable trend that the modern information technology, computer as its center, has been gradually popularized and applied in education. Computer Assist Instruction (CAI) now is widely used and displaying its superiority in foreign language teaching. As foreign language teachers, we should have a good command of this modern information technology, but more important, should take the advantage of this technology and apply it properly to language teaching so as to increase the efficiency in English teaching, and to further the college English reform.This essay is mainly to make a survey of the application of Computer Assist Language Learning (CALL) in vocational colleges in Huhhot, Inner Mongolia. The questionnaires are issued to find out the current situation in the application of CALL there, the difficulties in the application of CALL, thus to analyze their causes, and to put forward the possible ways to improve the situation.Firstly, it gives a brief introduction to the concept of CALL, its development, theoretical base and some research results from research institutions and individuals. Secondly, it conducts a survey with questionnaires over the application of the Computer Assist Language Learning (CALL) in vocational colleges in Huhhot, Inner Mongolia. According to the analysis of the questionnaires, we know that the application of CALL in vocational colleges in Huhhot, Inner Mongolia is not satisfactory-still in its beginning, and it shows us that compared to the past, the facilities of CALL in the vocational colleges in Huhhot have increased but they can't yet meet the demands of their rapid development. It also states that most teachers have some knowledge of CALL but not enough as expected and they seldom use CALL in their daily teaching, instead, they use CALL in the open class or research class. Nevertheless, what has encouraged us is that most teachers have the great enthusiasm for applying CALL in foreign language teaching and some of them have come to realize the advantages of CALL and make full use of them not only in the open class but also in daily teaching.
