The Connotation Of The Private Virtues In Traditional Morals And Its Modern Significance

With the establishment and perfecting of socialist market economic system and the collapse of planned economic system, the value orientation has changed from single to plural, in which process some conflicts not existing or hidden before has began to appear, even tends to more and more intense. These conflicts are sure inevitable results of social development, which represents social civilization and progress, but at the same time also reflects negative results owing to overemphasizing the development of material civilization and neglecting spiritual civilization. To solve these conflicts concern whether the advantages of socialist system can be embodied, the socialist ultimate goal can be realized, our country can keep peaceful and stable. Consequently, to strengthen the building of ideology and morality is urgent and important to build a socialist harmonious society in the new period. In the process of building a harmonious society and the virtues of new periods, we should have a deep awareness of how our virtue value implied in Chinese traditional culture is important, what role it can play in building a harmonious society and how we should use it for reference nowadays, which is mainly researched in the thesis.Researching the private virtues is focused in Theory Circle in China. Private virtues proposition put forward by Liang Qichao made its research begin. On one hand those research yielded a rich harvest, e.g. giving a clear definition of private virtues; having a understanding based on a higher level; beginning to recognize its significance to our traditional society and the concrete features represented by it.
