Since the Second World War, the development of the Chinese language and culture education in Indochina has presented a track of saddle: it had kept developing prosperously from the year of 1950 to 1960. It began the recession from the metaphase of 1960s and declined to its nadir in the years after 1975. From the metaphase of 1970s, it has resumed gradually and made great progress. The factors that could affect the development of the Chinese language and culture education in Indochina include: the effect of the changing geostrategic relationship between Indochina and China; the transformation from the oversea Chinese to the ethnic Chinese in Indochina; the evolution of the ethnic Chinese societies in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos; the raise of the value of the Chinese language brought by the spread of the Chinese business net. There are differences among the Chinese language and culture educations of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in the forms of running schools, the open degree and the developmental levels. Nevertheless, they are facing some common problems such as the lack of money, the short of qualified teachers and teaching materials etc. Presently, the function of the Chinese language and culture education has come to be multiplex. The governments of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos will pay more attention to the Chinese language and culture education due to the enhancement of the power of China, the increasingly close trade relation among these countries and China, the endeavors of the Chinese community. As for the foreground of the Chinese language and culture education, entering into the local mainstream educational system will become the inevitable tendency.
