"World Chinese Language Association" Of Taiwan And Overseas Chinese Education

With the development of China’s economy, China’s influence is rising, and greatimportance has been attached to Chinese language. Both mainland and Taiwan haveissued numbers of policies to promote the Chinese language education, competitivelyand cooperatively, facilitating the development of oversea Chinese education. Chineselanguage, which is the focus of overseas Chinese affairs in Taiwan, has been paid a lotof attention by Taiwan official. Apart from the endeavor of the “Overseas ChineseAffairs Commission”, mainly in charge of overseas Chinese affairs, Taiwan officialsupplied large amount of policy support to Taiwan’s folk Chinese education groups.What’s more, the folk groups are regarded as auxiliary power of official Chineseeducation, have launched Chinese language education activities for many times. TheWorld Chinese language Association is one of Chinese education institutes earlierfounded in Taiwan, very close to Taiwan official. It operates the Chinese languageteaching maturely, launches many Chinese language education activities, makingremarkable achievements. This paper will introduce the contribution made by theWorld Chinese language Association to Taiwan Chinese language education from thefollowing aspects: the institute’s sponsor of the opening of each session of conference,cross-strait exchanges, Chinese language teaching material compilation and so forth.The aim of the paper is to explore the development and cooperation of Chineselanguage education, summarize the developmental situation and prospects of overseasChinese language education in Taiwan, hoping to do some contribution to Chineseeducation research on both mainland and Taiwan.
