Research On San Zhang

"San Zhang"are brothers named Zhang Zai, Zhang Xie and Zhang Kang in Xijin Dynasty. They are famous writers in the late period of Xijin Dynasty. There is a phrase which says that San Zhang diminish in value when Er Lu come to the capital Luoyang in the historic book named Jin Book. Therefore, they must have attained a high position before Er Lu reached Luoyang in the literary world. However, there are few papers concerning San Zhang themselves as well as their works over a long period of time. The monograph on their works is even fewer. Based on the previous research, this thesis gains a comprehensive understanding about the three writers. In review of the basic historical data, this paper studies their pedigree, official career, ideas and works, and focuses on two aspects: their thoughts and literary achievement.The thesis consists of three major parts: introduction, main body and conclusion.The introduction is about San Zhang's lives, achievements and the studies already made in the subject. In addition, we demonstrate the significance of this study, how the study is conducted and what aim is to be achieved.The main body is further divided into two parts:The first section is a thorough study of San Zhang's lives and experiences. Although their father is high-profile official of the government, their family are not noble. Therefore, their beginning of official position is very humble and their official experience is frustrated and this experience influences them deeply. The second section explores their association. They are cautious in making friends. Via the analysis, I draw the conclusion that their close friends are Fu Xuan, Fu Xian, Cui Hong, Xun Song and so on. They and their friends have several common features, such as they are all fly right and have interests in literature and so on and so forth. The third section puts emphasis on the feature of their thoughts and characters and analyzes the contradiction between the securing of an official position and being buried alive.In the next part, I mainly discuss San Zhang's literary creation in the history. In the first section I introduce the compile and writing in San Zhang's works. In the second section, I discuss the social lives and the idealistic meanings in San Zhang's works .It emphasizes the political situation, embedded depiction of realistic lives and the conflicts of official hermit in San Zhang's works. In the third section, I discuss the meanings of the artistic expression and the initiative moral in three Zhang's poems,especially the description of scenery in Zhang Xie's poems named Zashi.
