On Zhang Guangnian’s Literary Thought

In the modern literature history of China, the creation of the "Yellow River Cantata" and other poems and lyrics that confirm the poet’s status of Zhang Guangnian. Zhang Guangnian is also a literary theorist with rich experience in literary criticism. In the Contemporary Chinese literature system, Zhang Guangnian has long been the leading position of literary and artistic work. From the revolutionary literature movement in 1930s to the revival and development of literature and art in the new era, Zhang Guangnian has been in the forefront of literary and artistic work. His literary activities and the construction of literary and artistic thought can reflect the tortuous development of contemporary Chinese literature and art. Zhang Guangnian’s thought of literature and art was influenced by Soviet literary theory, which was constructed in the category of Chinese literary system and literary policy. His thought has a creative interpretation and development of Mao Tse-tung’s literary and artistic thought, which is essentially a theory and criticism of Marxism with Chinese characteristics. Admittedly, Zhang Guangnian’s literary thought is the consciousness of seeking for the theory, which has a certain ideological value and guiding significance, however it is still difficult to get rid of the limitations of the times in the narrative, reflecting certain political utilitarianism and historical specificity.Based on the background of Zhang Guangnian’s tortuous road of the literary, from the period of before liberation, the germination of literary thought, "The Seventeen Years" repeated search, until the new period theory system gradually mature, From the different stages of literary criticism articles, with the way of macroscopic grasp and microscopic interpretation. Focusing on Zhang Guangnian’s complex literary thought construction, to spy on its initial building, formation, backwash and perfection of the road. This paper described the "people’s Literature" and "realism" and "national form" three themes to summarize Zhang Guangnian’s literary theory. The specific contents are concluded as follows:In the first part:Literature is the "human study", whose performance object is human, showing the life state and living circumstances of human being. Zhang Guangnian’s literary activities, always pay attention to people’s performance, he adhere to the development of the people’s literature and art. In his thought of literature and art, the conception of "the people" sprouted in the Anti-Japan War literature and art movement. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it is consciously close to the "worker peasant soldier literature ", heavy reflection after the cultural revolution and in the new era, "the people’s Literature" is reconstructed and truly molded.In the second part:Realism is an important way to realize the people’s literature and art, realism is the mainstream of the development of literature in twentieth Century. Zhang Guangnian "realism" experience "repeated" recognition process:the view of realism literature in Anti-Japan literature; concern about the interpretation of typical socialist realism and study creative theme & artistic ideal during the period of "The Seventeen Years", characterization of time limitation, showing statute of specific era of politics on literature; realistic spirit can return in the new period.In the third part:In the 1940s, after deep consideration of "national form", in his opinion, it’s necessary to use public acceptable and popular expression. Only in this way can truly reflect the affinity to the people in literature and art. The folk form affirmation and reference, stressed the literary tradition of the succession are the main ways for Zhang Guangnian to close the public and learn to the national cultural resources, which is Zhang Guangnian’s consistent attitude towards literature.This thesis takes Zhang Guangnian as a case study to explore the development and the change of his literary thought under the integrity care. The pros and cons of Zhang Guangnian’s thought of literature and art is regarded as the limitation and contradiction of the times, reflecting tortuosity and complication of literature in the process of modernization, so as to provide reference for the development of Chinese contemporary literature. It also wants to fill some blind spots in the narration of literary history.
