Studies On Yu Xin's Fu

Yu Xin (513-518) , a great writer of Northern and Southern dynasties synthesized all previous fu works ,i.e. descriptive prose interspersed with verse and brought fu to its highest development. His life , full of frustrations , had important influence on his writing . The ideology of his works includes two aspects : describing things and scenery and chanting sexual passions ; recalling with grief his life experience and sadly yearning for his native land. 1.On the aesthetic style of Yu Xin's fu in his early lifeYu Xin's creative works could be put into two parts ,the works in his early life and the works in his later life in accordance with the year he was sent to West Wei state ,m the year when he was 42 years old .The writer concludes that the aesthetic style of his fu in his early life has two faces: clear ,new and colorful, mixed with melancholic ,lament works.Yu Xin was put under given social conditions in which he lived . The author inspects him as a specific case during Xiao-Liang's nobles .Between society and individual ,personality and the way of keeping moral integrity ,history and reality, and so on, the author reserches and discusses the reason why his consciousness of moral integrity was so complex from subjective and objective aspects. 2.The sense of chastity is a sensitive topic for Yu Xin in his later years and also a difficult point in the study of Yu Xin .The article attempts a very rough analysis of the externalization, generalization and assessment of Yu Xin's sense of chastity. 3.Tendency to localization of artistic mentality in fu of late North dynastyAfter North Wei dynasty ,there had be an antagonistic situation between West Wei and East Wei for a long time . Both of them tried to found their respective cultural base according to area history. Yu Xin ,the most important writer of West Wei ,collected and quoted many historic material about Changan city ,the capital of Zhou Ch'in and Han dynasty ,in his poetry and fu . In East Wei kingdom ,poets looked LuoYang city as their cultural cradle ,and succeded to Wei Jin tradition .after Sui dynasty was founded ,poets from East Wei began to identify with Changan regime and cultural tradition ,even though they showed their grieves for East Wei in their poetry and fu .This had a great influence on their artistic mentality. 4.The acceptance of the cultural environment of the Northern dynasty by Yu XinThe text analyses not only the influence of national ,academic and literary of YuWen family upon Yu Xin, but also the feedback to Northern dynasty's literature. 5.The relationship between Yu Xin's later creation and his mental state of staying long in a strange placeYu Xin's literary creation has greatly changed since he went from the south to the north .The change is closely related to his peculiar mental state of staying long in a strange place ,this mental state directly influenced his later creation and the formation of his plaintive esthetical style . At the same time it provides us with a field of vision to peep his inner mind in his later periods.
