Meta-linguistic Research On Verb Paraphrasing Models In Modern Chinese Dictionary

Based on scientific and systemic principles, this thesis makes a meta-linguistic research on the verbs, in Modern Chinese Dictionary.The methods used in this research are: induction, qualitative analysis, statistic frequency and sentence distribution analysis. This thesis makes an all-sided research on the paraphrasing model system of the verbs. Firstly, it builds a database of the verbs in Modern Chinese Dictionary; secondly, analyzes the language of its lemmas and paraphrasing models, including their types, number and characteristics; thirdly, the statistic frequency and semantic comparisons are picked up to finding out the rules; finally, according to the distribution of models and semantic comparisons, it builds the preferred system of verb paraphrasing models.By analyzing paraphrase of the verbs in Modern Chinese Dictionary, we find there are three types in Modern Chinese Dictionary: words, phrases and sentences. This research builds the preferred system of these three types and puts forward the shortcomings in paraphrase of the verbs in Modern Chinese Dictionary.
