The personality factor plays an important role in the academic performance. In the past years, domestic researchers have studied the relationship of personality with academic performance. However, these studies were based on the trait theory. Therefore, there were no studies about the relationship between personality types and academic performance.Based on the past studies, this research is aimed to examine the relation between personality types and academic performance. The participants were 560 students from Middle School and the personality measure tool was MBTI Questionnaire. What's more, according to the characteristic of every personality type, this research showed the teaching suggestions which should enlighten the individualized education.The major research results were:(1) There are significant differences in the physics performance and chemistry performance among the sixteen personality types. The types, which contain "I" "S" "T" "J" plots , have better physics or chemistry performance.(2) For four MBTI personality dimensions: the physics performance and the chemistry performance of S type are significantly higher than that of N type; the maths performance, the physics performance and chemistry performance of T type are significantly higher than that of F type; the physics performance and the chemistry performance of J type are significantly higher than that of P type(3) There are significant differences in the physics performance and chemistry performance among the personality types which are composed of the different plots of the personality dimensions. The academic achievements of SJ, ST and TJ types are comparatively high, and NF,NP, FP students' achievements are comparatively low.(4) Among the most personality types which are significantly different in the mathematics or physics or chemistry performance, there is no significant difference in the intelligence and psychological health factors. Only among a few personality types, are there significant differences in the intelligence and psychological health factors, showing that the personality types with higher academic achievements have lower intelligence levels and higher anxiety levels. The results shows the important influence of personality types on the on the academic achievements.
