Based on the analysis of the six fundamental elements of oil painting (including theme, color, composition, form, brushwork and texture, lines), this dissertation studies the personal characteristics and artistic evolution of Yanping' oil paintings, and thus tries to reevaluate her position and significance in China's oil painting history. Yanping's oil paintings feature in her elaborate composition, lifelike images, bold and resolute brushwork, moving and beautiful lines, all of which contribute to the uniqueness and specialty of Yanping's works. This dissertation also focuses on the study of Yanping's consciousness in choosing autobiographic materials as the main theme of all her works, of the flexible application of shining bright colors and of the deep emotions embodied in her paintings. The theme, color and emotion also play a crucial role in the achievement of her own style. Out of her distinctive personality, the painted bright indoor light and brilliant colors offer Chinese audience a precious opportunity to appreciate the merriment and light-heartedness of arts and humanity.
