With the prosperous development in translation study and interdisciplinary research, pragmatics is applied to the study of translation theory, which brings about new perspective and augments new content to the traditional translation theory. Especially the appliance of relevance theory supplies an important guideline to the study of translation theory.Under the guidance of relevance theory, translation is an interlingual communication among the source text writer, the translator and the target text reader. Relevance translation theory focuses on the analysis of the context, the intention of the source text writer, the purpose of the translator, the classification of the target language reader, the cognitive environment of the source text writer and the translated text reader, and etc. With the analysis of the above elements the translator can choose the proper strategies under the guidance of optimal relevance principle, and avoid falling into the dilemma during the translating process. The emphasis of this thesis is to argue the feasibility of applying three translating strategies (the writer-oriented translating strategy, the truth-oriented translating strategy and the readership-oriented translating strategy) respectively in three different texts (the expressive text, the informative text and the vocative text) under the guidance of the relevance theory, and to seek for a better solution to guide the translating practice.
