Iconicity Of Russian Literary Language And Its Application In Translation

Iconicity is an important program in the study of modern cognitive linguistics. The research concerning language iconicity has made great progress so far, and the study of iconicity has been spread widely into various field of linguistic study, laying a firm foundation for the connection between iconicity and other fields.From the perspective of sign iconicity, scholars consider iconicity into literature, which reflects the real life in various ways. Many literary methods in the literary works are used for special purpose to make these works sensed as art works as much as possible. The iconicity now prevails in the literary works, which is a fact can not be negated. As the further study of iconicity proves, certain connection exists between the theory of iconicity and the practice of translation. Applying the theory of iconicity into the study of translation would provide a new prospect for the research of translation. Based on this point and according to the concerned theories of sign iconicity, this paper would explore the phenomena of language iconicity in the Russian literary works, and discuss the problems of translation from the perspective of iconicity, connecting with the Chinese version of Russian literary works.This paper would explore the iconicity and problems of translation in the Russian literary works from two perspectives, image iconicity and diagram iconicity. Based on the general principles of iconicity and through the analysis of real practice, the paper proves that the Russian literary works are abundant in the phenomena of iconicity. Making use of comparative method, the paper demonstrates that taking the view of iconicity as the cutting point in the process of translation is conducive to translation of original style and to the realization of meaning through forms and reproduction of artistic conception of the original work, having some guidance and revelation on the theory research and practice of translation.
