The 'yǔqí' construction refers to the construction typically represented by 'yǔqí p, bùrú q'. This thesis, employing the study method of Three-stratum Grammatical Theory, analyzes and illustrates the 'yǔqí' construction and some correlative questions in the following aspects in which some new viewpoints are put forward and some novel ideas are advanced. The thesis firstly discusses the four main components of the 'yǔqí' construction, i.e. 'yǔqí', 'bùrú', p & q. It then analyzes the semantic relations and grammatical meaning of p & q, and summarizes the grammatical meaning and construction feature of the 'yǔqí' construction. There are six kinds of semantic relations between p & q from the perspective of objective static criterion while there is only one kind from the perspective of subjective dynamic criterion. The 'yǔqí' construction bears triplex grammatical meaning, i.e. contrast, selection of the superior, acceptance & rejection. The construction feature of the 'yǔqí' construction is 'Opinion: yǔqí p, bùrú q; (Reason/Intension); (Conclusion)'. After the pragmatic and logical analyses on the 'yǔqí' construction, a new approach--acceptance & rejection measuring sequence is raised to analyze the acceptance & rejection complex sentences. Moreover, the thesis conducts a contrastive analysis among 'yǔqí p, bùrú q', 'yǔqí p, nìngkě q' and 'nìngkě p, yěbùq', surveys their diachronic development, and tries to establish a new semantic-grammatical category--acceptance & rejection category. It lastly does some deep thinking on the study methods of complex sentences.
