The modality of Chinese local records before Song dynasty was Tu Jing which had evolved into local record and nation record during a long period. It appears five main nation records during Song period: Tai Ping Huan Yu Ji, Yuan Feng Jiu Yu Zhi, Yu Di Guang Ji, Yu Di Ji Sheng and Fang Yu Sheng Lan. Some of them were compiled by the government, others the individual which are in various forms and adopted different historical materials. China became united after about 300 years of division in Yuan dynasty which had expansive territory and multiplex cultures because the Mongolian had conquered the most of Eurasia. The Muslims brought the Islamic geography to China. Follow the advice of a Muslim geographer, Yuan government decided to compile a nation geographical record. It created a new form of the nation record---"Yi Tong Zhi" including various matters. Both the following Ming and Qing dynasties compiled the "Yi Tong Zhi" according to the Yuan's. Unfortunately, Da Yuan Da Yi Tong Zhi had scattered and lost without a certain cause. Many historians combined the survive volumes for the redivivus of Da Yuan Da Yi Tong Zhi because of the significance of it. The thesis continues the study of Da Yuan Da Yi Tong Zhi based on the former researches.
