Cantonese as one of the major dialects is wildly spoken in Chinese communities all over the world, how it affects the beginner in learning Chinese language and his linguistic intuition at the lower level is the main topic of this thesis. The feasibility of designing the suitable teaching methods through the analysis the problems accused in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar is made possible in suiting pedagogical needs, as well as in helping the overseas Chinese who master English as first language. Emphasis placed on this background is such that the students can foster the linguistic intuition and cultural consciousness, acquire cross-cultural communication skills in the end, no matte what kinds of study purposes they had.
