| Based on the data investigated mostly by the author, this dissertation studies the Cantonese used in Zhongshan with geographical linguistic method. It includes the following five chapters.Chapter one aims to give a brief introduction about Zhongshan, Zhongshan dialects and relevant studies on it. The purposes, data, and methods of this study are also given here.Chapter two introduces the phonological system of four subdialects of Zhongshan.Chapter three discusses the phonological diversity in the Cantonese used in Zhongshan, and also studies the different reasons that make the diversity.Chapter four mainly deals with the vocabulary diversity in the Cantonese used in Zhongshan.Chapter five summarizes that, the Cantonese used in Zhongshan can be divided into four parts according to the difference in phonology and vocabulary.
