A Research On Han-descendant Complex Of Cen Yuying

Cen Yuying(1829～1889),borned in Xinlin couty,Guangxi province,who had ever served as governor of Yunnan-Guizhou province. In China modern history, he was an important official. In the Zhuang's history, he also was a well-known person. Up to now, scholars'research about Cen Yuying mainly concentrated in the problem of the Yunnan Muslim Uprising and the Sino-French War. Cen Yuying was born of the Zhuang, but he alleged himself the Han's descendant, and even disdained the Zhuang and other minorities. How to realize his ethical identity ? Several people concerned. This thesis defines Cen Yuying's psychology of making pretence with Han-descendant as Han-descendant complex, and explores its behavior of identifying with the Han, searches its cause, and then put it in given historical cultural background to discuss, tries to explain its deep-seated meaning.This text begins with Cens'Genealogy of Xilin compiled by Cen Yuying, inspects its falsity of his ancestor of the Han recorded by Cen Yuying, get a conclusion that Cen Yuying's ancestor should be native-born Zhuang people in the South. On this foundation, by ulteriorly studying we know that Cen Yuying was not the first person who fabricate the Han ancestor, but his behavior of trying his best to supplement and consummate the saying of Cen's ancestor coming from the North that coined by Cen's forefathers reflected his bald-faced Han- descendant complex.Besides fabricating the Han ancestor, Cen Yuying's Han- descendant complex still incarnated on these aspects, such as building tomb of Han ancestor, advocating Han culture, discriminating against minority people and suppressing minority conflict. From reconciling to act as Han- descendant to advocate Han culture, from uglifying minorities to suppress minority cruelly, Cen Yuying firstly didn't regard himself as minority, and then looked down on minority, at last he even stood at the opposition of minority.Cen Yuying's Han- descendant complex was the result that multi-factor affected mutually. The different value that Achaia ethical notion and the orthodox ideas endowed with the Han and the Zhuang, and the different status resulted from the national policy that past dynasties carried out, placed the Han and the Zhuang in widely different condition. Being born of the Zhuang, Cen Yuying didn't reconcile to bend to fate, but choose to close the Han that could advance his status. The saying of Cen's ancestor coming from the North that had been popular in the Zhuang area for long, with Cen Yuying borning and growing on, and gradually embedded in his mind.
