The Reason Reviews On "很VP" Structure

There have been many expositions on the grammar structure"很VP". This article considers this grammar structure is of reasonable existence in modern Chinese language,and the fundamental reason for its existence comes down to the semantic transfixion between"很"and"VP". This article based on this view probes into to the justifications of"很VP". This article is divided into four parts :The first part deals with semantic basis of"很VP"and points out that the basic semantic features of the verb compositions which can be put into the"很VP"structure are [+ quality] and [+ vague sinks], which is complementing each other. Characteristics of the volume itself contains some factors of vague sinks, and also the volume of things or events is a reflection of the state of nature.Part Two discusses the overt compositions, which with obvious semantic feature of [+ quality ] and [+ vague sinks], such as"愿意,起作用,看不起"and so on. ."愿意"contains a mean of possibility,"起作用"contains a mean of conspicuousness and"看不起"means an attitude; What's more, these verb compositions which can be modified by different degree adverbs, are of an obvious characteristic of [+vague sinks], such as"有点愿意/起作用/看不起,比较愿意/起作用/看不起,很愿意/起作用/看不起,十分愿意/起作用/看不起,最愿意/起作用/看不起".Such verb components are included as following: Appearance mental state verbs, able verbs, quality-conduct verbs, idiomatic verb-object constructions, solidify verb-complement constructions .Part III discusses the hidden compositions, which with no obvious semantic feature of [+ quality] and [+ vague sinks],and therefore they must be given certain attached conditions to help stimulate their [+ quality] and [+ vague sinks] so that they can be modified by "很".For example, "看",as a non-quality verb, can not be refined by "很", so we can not say that "很看"but that"很看了几天书", for the quantity contained by quantity object which is following"看"makes he whole verb pattern can be refined by "很" possible.
