Tibetan is a nationality with long history and brilliant culture. Epic is the book recording the memory of nationality, manifesting the spirit of nationality, recording the history and culture. It is the visualized history of Tibetan .Tibetan heroic epic Gesar is the most representative work, it emerged in the Tibetan plateau one or two thousand years ago. It created collectively by Tibetans and it is a living testament of Tibetan culture. Gesar is not only an encyclopedia of Tibetan culture , but also a treatured book of the Chinese culture . By analyzing the culture of oath in epic Gesar, the author wants to explore the origin, form, ceremony and historical meaning of Tibetan oath.This paper is divided into nine parts. In preface, author discusses the meaning of this study and the actual state of research about culture of Tibetan oath at home and abroad. The first chapter analyzes two basic sources of oath culture. In the second chapter, by analyzing literature and actual examples, author explores the problem which the definition of "oath" is unclear in Tibetan dictionary. Combining with the definition of oath, in the third chapter ,the author differs the concept among promise, treaty, bargain and caution money. The fourth chapter is mainly about the element of oath; In the fifth chapter , author divides and explores the different content and meaning of Tibetan oath. In the sixth chapter, author wants to explore the positive impact of obeying oath and the negative impact of disobeying .The Seventh chapter explores the meaning of meditating and correcting; Finally, the postscript sums up the culture of Tibetan oath in Gesar and points out that the essence of this culture reflects the true character and fine willing of Tibetan people.
