Maidservant characters, as a special group in talented scholars and lovely ladies romances at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, though not protagonists, the writers leave some place for them anyway. Thus, they can seize the chance to manifest their unique charm on their own stage. This dissertation has observed and studied maidservant characters in talented scholars and lovely ladies romances at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, and made a preliminary discussion on their position and role in the plot and structure of talented scholars and lovely ladies romances. On the basis of it, this dissertation attempts to analyze internal and external causes of the emergence of maidservant characters in talented scholars and lovely ladies romances at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, and makes a comparison of maidservant characters between A Dream of Red Mansions and The Golden Lotus, expounds the position of maidservant characters in talented scholars and lovely ladies romances at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynast among the creation of maidservant characters in the whole Ming and Qing dynasties novels, and states that maidservant characters of The Golden Lotus is the transition to those of A Dream of Red Mansions in talented scholars and lovely ladies romances at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty.
