The French director Jean-Pierre Melville, famed as "Le Pere De La Nouvelle Vague" , has left 13 works in the film history within his short art life. From his first long film "Silence de la Mer, Le" to the last work "Un Flic" , all the works of Melville expressed the idea of extremely strong stylization. In particular, the crime movies in his late period have been the models worshiped in all film times. This essay shall discuss the personal creations of Melville from script point of view, and analyze the consistent author style in his works from the angles of theme, symbol, narration, film language and esthetics, etc., especially how his image and sound systems, under the direction of his unique narration style, form the narration system which is distinguished from the classic Hollywood style, inventing the highly tense rhythm branded with Melville characteristics in simple stories. This essay shall also, having the Melville style compared and studied from history point of view among his representative works in three periods, excavate the stylization marks reflected from his "Two Original Trial" and "One Black World" in film history. The undersigned coincidences with the works of Robert Bresson in his early period shall be used to discuss the Film Style Trial of "Opposition of Image and Language" adopted in his first wok, which is the first step in the film essence. The original creative techniques and film languages adopted in his works in his transitional period shall be quoted to prove the enlightenment influence from "Le Pere De La Nouvelle Vague" on "la nouvelle vague" adopted directors such as Jean Luc Godard and Francois Truffaut. As for the crime movies which form the comprehensive expression of his style in his late period, the horizontal comparison with American black films and French local crime films shall be used to illustrate the uniqueness of Melville style between globalization and localization; while the vertical comparison with the inheritance and enhancement of Melville style in violent esthetic works represented by John Woo and Johnny To shall be used to demonstrate the influence from Melville's author style on later times. The completion of the shift from the work study to the style interpretation shall hopefully be useful reference to modern film creations.
