Affect has been a very much-concerned topic in second and foreign language acquisition for the past decades. It is argued that affect is not only an important factor in the language learning but also a link between the teacher and the students in communication. In the EFL classroom teaching, active, healthy and pleasant affect has an great influence on the development of students understanding and mastering English and their ability of using English comprehensibly. Its influence lies in creating a good teaching environment, arousing the students'interest, cultivating students'autonomy, cooperative spirit and creative ability.With the development of society and science, many academic fields have overlapped each other, and this provides fruitful theoretical bases for the present thesis. That means we could find the solid theoretical foundations for the affect in different fields, and the following theories in details present us the basis of the importance of affect: Roger's Humanistic Education, Krashen's Affective Filter Hypothesis, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Input and Output Hypothesis etc.In China, many researches of affect in learning have been done. But during the college EFL classroom teaching, how to play the roles of teacher's affect has been little studied, including the understanding of the teacher's affect.Based on the present EFL teaching reality and the predecessor's researches, the present author explains the teacher's affect in details and produces the question of how to play the role of teacher's affect, meanwhile he provides the ways which could be carried out in the EFL classroom teaching with the proof of a small—scale experiment.Although teacher's affect is not the most important element for EFL classroom teaching, it is indispensable indeed. Therefore, it is significant to take teacher's affect into consideration in the EFL classroom teaching.
