The Chikui phenomenon universally exists in Chinese society. However, previous researches fail to further explore the social phenomenon. So theoretical and empirical studies are done to explore the phenomenon from a psychological perspective, which will do good to the Sinicization and life-orientation of psychology.The methods of literature review, theoretical analysis, interview, questionnaire survey are used to elaborate the Chikui phenomenon, including the definition of Chikui Psychology, the processing of Chikui Psychology, influencing factors related and coping strategies. Main conclusions can be drawn as follows:(1) Chikui Psychology is a mental processing including cognizing, evaluating, reflecting in the midst that individuals prime internal "Reference Point" positively or passively in the face of some events (for example, suffering losses, unfairness.)(2) Generally speaking, the processing of Chikui Psychology includes attention and perception, evaluating, reflecting.(3) Chikui Psychology is influenced greatly by individual factors, education, traditional culture and social reality.(4) Psychological and behavioral strategies are proposed to help people cope with Chikui in daily life. The dissertation highlights strategies as follows: cognizing Chikui accurately to shape correct thinking mode, adjusting negative emotion, self-defensing positively, seeking for social support, forming a proper behavioral pattern, learning to self-relax.(5) Studies examine the effects of gender, major, birthplace, family income, between the Only-child and Non-only-child. Results show that there are gender and major differences on Chikui Psychology for graduates. And there is a significant difference between liberal arts graduates and Science &Engineering graduates. However, there are no birthplace, family income differences, and no differences between only child and not only child. Furthermore, the questionnaire on Factors Influencing Chikui Psychology does not have bad reliability and validity. But there is something unsatisfying which is necessary to be further modified in the future.Meanwhile, limitations of the study are discussed, as well as implications for future studies on Chikui Psychology.
