No matter in the east or in the west, the research on the works of narrative has a long history. However, narratology wasn't established until in the 1960s-1970s.Before that time, the research wasn't performed scientifically and systematically. Narratology was jointly built by Roland Barthes, A. J. Greimas, Gerard Genette, Claude Bremond and so on, the literature theorists of France. The object investigated in narratology is about the features of the essence of narrative text, the representation of narrative text, the function of narrative text ,the structure of narrative text and so on. Narratology studies the inherence and abstractness of works of narrative. The narratology of France had a profound background of structuralism. It achieved great success but at the same time it was also challenged and questioned strongly by the deconstruction and political culture criticism. So in 1980s, narratology of structuralism declined. In the mid and late 1990s, the research on narratology revived gradually in northern America. Narratology of this period is called New Narratology or postclassical narratology. The difference between New Narratology and narratology of structurism is great. On research method, New Narratology gets through the barrier of structurism and carrys on the research with other subjects; On the Object investigated, New Narratology has widened its field of version. New Narratology not only concemtrates on works of narrative but also on words and the narrative beyond literature. This thesis analyzes daily conversation narratively in the context of New Narratology, combining the method of narratology and pragmatics. This paper is made up of six parts. The first part defines the notion of narration and daily conversation, then introduces examples and analyzes daily conversation narratively, which lays the foundation for the whole thesis. The second part to the fourth part are the key parts of the thesis. The three parts analyze the act of narrating of daily conversation, narrative meaning and narrative structure. The fifth part discusses the difference and relationship of daily conversation narrative, daily life and text narrative. On the basis of the parts above, the sixth part discusses the meaning contained in the narrative analysis of daily conversation from the angle of academics construction, society and individual. The innovation of this thesis lies in that it analyzes the daily conversation more systematically for the first time and draws some new conclusions.
